Ongoing crackdown on illegal mining in Sahibganj reveals nexus of corruption

• CBI and ED teams are actively pursuing cases related to illegal mining in Sahibganj district
• District Mining Task Force, District Transport Department and District Mining Department are also conducting raids to stop illegal mining and checking big vehicles
• Vehicles caught engaging in illegal mining operations face blacklisting by the transport department

In recent developments, both the CBI and ED teams have intensified their actions against illegal mining activities in Sahibganj district. Simultaneously, the District Mining Task Force, District Transport Department, and District Mining Department are conducting regular raids to curb unauthorized mining operations and inspect large vehicles involved in the process. The crackdown includes investigations into the illicit practices and vehicles engaged in illegal mining.

Vehicles caught engaging in illegal mining operations are facing blacklisting by the transport department along with fines imposed on it. Every day some vehicle owners are seen making rounds of the transport department to get rid of these blacklisted vehicles. 

Despite the ongoing efforts, reports suggest a nexus involving brokers outside the District Transport Department office. Allegedly, brokers are facilitating the removal of blacklisted vehicles by paying certain amounts to departmental personnel, indicating concerns about corruption within the system.

While senior officials are reportedly aware of these allegations, there is a perceived lack of decisive action to curb corruption within the ranks.
